On October 1st 1995 Robert "Firecracker" Overacker launched himself over Niagara Falls with nothing but a jet ski, a parachute, and a plea for humanity to save the homeless. Oh and a walkie talkie. Unfortunately the parachute never opened and The Falls took his life. Here's how I see if going down.

I made the lettering that went on his jetski. He came into our sign shop in Ventura and was very tight lipped about his "illegal stunt". I'm from Buffalo and looked right at him and said, "Are you going over Niagara Falls?" he was SHOCKED. I told him it would never work. I grew up there and had been to the Falls dozens of times. I told him the chute will never inflate because of the mist...and that is exactly what happened. It was weird when I heard he died, he was a really nice guy...I wish he had listened.

Wow! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It is a shame he didn't heed your warning. His heart and sense of adventure were in the right place. I never saw any pictures of him or his jet ski, how close is my interpretation?
